Dr. Hou-Tai Chang is a highly regarded physician and academic currently serving as the Chief of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Chief of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. She has held these leadership roles since 2001 and 2021, respectively. Additionally, she serves as the Secretary-General of the Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine since 2022, advocating for advancements in critical care practices.
Dr. Chang earned her Bachelor of Arts from the National Taiwan University School of Medicine in 1996, followed by her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at National Taiwan University Hospital. She continued her education by obtaining a Master of Science in Health Care Organization Administration in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management from the College of Public Health at National Taiwan University in 2018.
In academia, Dr. Chang has progressed through various roles at Yuan-Ze University, starting as an Instructor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management in 2012, advancing to Assistant Professor in 2019, and most recently appointed as Associate Professor in 2024.
Dr. Chang’s study interest focus on resolving the clinical problems accounted in ICU scenario, such as multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO), airway emergency and end-of-life care and communication. With specialties in Internal Medicine, Chest Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Healthcare Management, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Dr. Chang is committed to enhancing healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
