Biography:
Dr. Chen is a dedicated intensivist with a focus on treating acute respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress
syndrome (ARDS), sepsis, and septic shock. Her approach emphasizes the collaborative nature of critical care,
involving multiple specialty services to ensure the best patient outcomes.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Chen is deeply engaged in research aimed at enhancing intensive care unit
(ICU) practices. Her efforts have contributed to the development of national standardized protocols for shock
management, and she utilizes data analysis to monitor compliance with care guidelines within the ICU, striving for
continuous improvement.
Dr. Chen's academic journey includes earning a medical degree and a master's degree in clinical research methods
from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship
in pulmonary and critical care medicine at New York – Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Prior to joining UCSF, she held the position of director of the medical intensive care unit at the Montefiore
Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her extensive experience and dedication to advancing
critical care practices make her a valuable asset in the field.
Abstract:
Early Mobilization in the ICU
I will discuss the current evidence and practices of early mobilization in the ICU for critically ill
patients.
