Abstract:
Smart quality management
Ventilator-associated events in the intensive care unit (ICU) can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. Using big data and AI/machine learning technologies, we developed predictive models to determine the optimal timing for ventilator weaning. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with the weaning protocol resulted in improved quality and outcomes for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. These successful experiences can be shared with other ICUs in neighboring hospitals, serving as a benchmark for healthcare facilities in Taiwan.
