Abstract:
K-MIMIC and AI-CDSS
K-MIMIC (Korea Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care) is the platform to collect and analysis big data of ICU. Twenty-five hospitals in Korea participated in IMPACT (Intensive care network with Million Patients information for AI-CDSS Technology) consortium with K-MIMIC platform and AI-CDSS (artificial intelligence-clinical decision support system) to promote the quality of medical services.
IMPACT consortium is composed of 11 tertiary hospitals (8 public and 3 private) and 14 general hospitals, which include 2,017 intensive care beds, covering over 20% of total beds nationwide. In addition, many experienced companies are participating in this consortium. Many diverse diseases will be covered in this platform including cardiovascular, respiratory, infectious, nervous, renal and musculoskeletal system.
The mission of this IMPACT consortium is to provide the best medical care to every patients requiring critical care through digital transformation. And the vision of this consortium is leading global standards by building the world’s largest intensive care specific data platform and developing clinically applicable AI-based CDSS.
K-MIMIC platform has two features; One is for data collection with structured/unstructured dataset of anonymized 1,000,000 patients, the other one is for giving researchers user-friendly analysis environment with visualizing summary of a total data in different aspect.
K-MIMIC platform is the key to constructing an IMPACT ecosystem that encompasses data collection system, data sharing system, and data analysis environment system. This platform provides a shared system for providing medical big data in a secure way to authorized users. And it can provide convenience by delivering download links to users. The analysis system is implemented based on docker containers and features lightness and flexibility, allowing users to conduct research by applying necessary environment and resources. Also this platform provides a dashboard function that delivers statistics of collected data to users.
IMPACT consortium will analyze the K-MIMIC dataset to overcome the various problems that may arise in the ICU and to develop AI-CDSS for ICU regardless of disease and age. IMPACT consortium has a plan to collect 1 million basic data and 750,000 extended data using and to develop 41 AI-CDSS’s.
