Biography:
Kuang-Yao Yang, MD, PhD is a Professor, Institute of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, School of Medicine, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taipei, Taiwan. He is also the Director of Respiratory Critical Care Unit, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. Dr. Yang has done a lot of works for the medical education and public service on the field of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in Taiwan, so he is elected as Vice President, Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine in 2019, and Supervisor, Taiwan Society of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in 2020. Dr. Yang obtained his medical degree from Taipei Medical University in 1992, and then he completed a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. From 2001 to 2002 he was a Research Scholar in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine, University of Colorado Denver, USA. In 2008 he was a Visiting Physician affiliated to the Lung Transplantation Program of the Berlin Heart Institute, Germany. In 2010, Dr. Yang was awarded his PhD from the Institute of Clinical Medicine, National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan. Dr. Yang has been served as the Chair of Critical Care Committee, Taiwan Society of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and the Chair of Academic Committee, Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has published numerous articles in highly regarded journals, including the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Critical Care. His current research and clinical interests are focused on pneumonia, and ARDS, as well as he acquired many professional awards, including Excellent research award, Taiwan Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Best research award, Taiwan Society of Society of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Since 2021, Dr. Yang has served as the Head-Elect of Critical Care Medicine Assembly, the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR).
