Biography:
Dr. Chang is currently the chairman of the Committee of International Affair of Taiwan Society of Emergency & Critical Care Medicine (TSECCM). He serves as the deputy director of the Emergency Department and the director of the Emergency Intensive Care Unit in the National Taiwan University Hospital. He is also a clinical professor of the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University.Being a critical care physician, emergency physician and cardiologist for more than 20 years, Dr. Chang has been devoted not only to the clinical service and teaching of emergency and intensive care medicine, but to basic science and clinical researches focusing on emergency and critical cardiovascular diseases. Starting from epidemiological investigations of sudden death and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the community, Dr. Chang extended his research to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and post-cardiac arrest care, with emphasis put on mitigating the global ischemia/reperfusion injuries. With such background, he is currently a task force member of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) on behalf of the Resuscitation Council of Asia (RCA), and is actively participating in the formulation and revision of the ACLS guidelines every 5 years.
