Biography:
Prof. Yasuhiro Kuroda is a graduate of Yamaguchi University School of Medicine, Japan, specializing in anesthesiology, intensive care, and emergency medicine. His research interests include neurointensive care, the effects of narcotics on cerebral circulatory metabolism, the pathogenesis of acute subdural hematoma, and postoperative brain injury after cardiac surgery. He is a visiting professor at Kagawa University School of Medicine and Director of the ER Emergency Center at TMG Asaka Medical Center in Saitama, Japan. He is the President of the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the President of the Japanese Society of Brain Death and Brain Resuscitation. A RCT on the effect of hypothermia in ECPR has started enrollment in Japan. Platform studies in the three domains of early hypothermia, body position, and analgesics for post-cardiac arrest syndrome are under preparation, and these will be international collaborative studies with Asian countries. He has received a grant from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) under the research project “Research to contribute to the education of medical personnel regarding organ donation in Japan from 2024,” and have prepared a manual for legal brain death determination and a manual for intensive care of patients with irreversible total brain dysfunction.
